- One Old Streetlight -

No I don't want your umbrella
As you can see it's full of holes
The same affliction haunts your dress shoes
Take a good look at your soles
And my threads are wearing quite thin
As I'm battered by the rain
I feel colder having seen you
And I feel sorry just the same

And I'll kindly refuse your needle
I'll do my sewing on my own
I've seen your talents as a tailor
And I dare say you have none
But my boots are strong and sturdy
I can weather any cold
If you'd be so kind to leave me
Well I just might make it home…yes I just might make it

If my watch keeps keeping time
If just one old streetlight shines
If my eyes can read the signs
If just one old streetlight shines……

If you're still trying to undo me
For murky motives of your own
You make quite a poor persuader
As your trial record shows
But I won't say you're shallow
The whole damn town already knows
But I tried to look inside you and I almost broke my nose…
